Okay second. I am not really sure where to start. I guess Funeral Season... I have gone to two so far and I plan on going to more. They are SO fun. I know this might sound creepy but not to worry it is a celebration of life done with music and dancing. It is not a sad thing because the families have already morned their loss when the person actually died.
And obviously I feel at home...meaning I think of all those special people in my life who work funerals... love you all and know that I am thinking of you! :)
I really wanted to take pictures but it is forbidden so I didn't whoever people take photos and videos with their phones.. just like america. However perhaps next year I will ask if I can take a photo... my neighbor said that they might let me.
The funeral includes the warba which is a traditional Moosi dance and the Mask which is basically someone dressed in a costume dancing around...and sometimes they hit people with a stick... trust me it is AMAZING.
Other things...
they celebrate Valentines day here... I didn't do anything.
I watched a lady in my village make Dolo... it is a 3 day process and you end up with an alcoholic drink at the end. It is really interesting and LOTs of women make it and sell it at the market. I don't really like it but it is okay.. so the last market day I went to her ra-zande and drank some dolo... everyone thought it was great and I thought it was great too! And of course everyone wanted me to buy them dolo because it was my first time. and because I am the nassara. ha
Lastly... I am sorry this is short sometimes it is hard to be on the internet. ha truly... i get overwhelmed.
